Synology Hyper Backup WebDAV Not Working

Backup Synology to Windows WebDav with Hyper Backup

Hi, I have a Synology DS118 and I want to make a backup of a folder into a WebDAV server that is running on a Windows Server machine.

The WebDav works, I can connect to it from other computers and a tablet via a web browser. The problem starts when I go to Hyper Backup. I select WebDav and fill in the data from the same user I used from my other PC and tablet it says: "You do not have enough privileges to access this destination shared folder. Contact destination administrator to get help.". But I have the permissions, I connected from other devices. Any idea why it is failing?

The Synology and the server are on the same LAN so I tried using IP instead of the hostname but it does not work, I also tried using http:// before the hostname but also does not work.

Reasons & Solutions to Synology Hyper Backup WebDAV Not Working

Some reasons should be responsible for Synology Hyper Backup WebDAV not working:

Erroneous WebDAV Server Configuration: The backup attempt will not succeed if the WebDAV server URL, username, or password are entered improperly. Verify the login information again and confirm that the WebDAV server can be reached.
Poor Internet Connection: The WebDAV server may have sluggish response times or an unstable network connection between your Synology NAS and the WebDAV server, which could result in a connection timeout or network issues.
Insufficient Permissions: Your backup task will fail if the WebDAV server does not permit write access due to insufficient permissions. If the WebDAV server has limited permissions set up, this might happen.
Outdated Firmware or Software: Compatibility problems may occur if the WebDAV server software or your Synology NAS software is out of date.

To fix the Synology Hyper Backup WebDAV not working problem, you can try the following solutions:

Solution 1: Check WebDAV Credentials are Right

Make that the WebDAV server is up and running by checking the server URL. To find the correct URL and other necessary settings if you're using a third-party WebDAV service, consult their instructions.

Solution 2: Connect to a Stable Internet Connection for Synology NAS and WebDAV

Make sure both your Synology NAS and WebDAV servers are on a stable network. You can try increasing the timeout settings in Hyper Backup, or consider switching to a faster WebDAV provider.

Solution 3: Check The Necessary Permissions for Synology WebDAV Backup

Check the permissions on your WebDAV server to ensure your Synology NAS has write access. If necessary, contact the WebDAV service provider to adjust the permissions.

Solution 4: Update Firmware and Server Software for NAS and WebDAV

Make sure that the WebDAV server software and the firmware on your Synology NAS are both current. Make sure that the WebDAV protocol is fully supported by any third-party WebDAV servers you use.

You can make sure your Synology Hyper Backup WebDAV operates smoothly and dependably by resolving these typical problems.
