How to Delete a Note on Evernote
This part will show you the steps for deleting Evernote notes on the web client, your Windows or Mac computer, and your iPhone, iPad, or Android mobile devices. Before deleting, you need to know that Evernote now only supports deleting less than 100 notes at once.
Delete a Note on Web
Step 1. Go to the Evernote website and log in to your account.
Step 2. Choose Notes in the left sidebar and select the note you want to delete.
Step 3. Click the 3-dot icon in the upper-right corner and choose Move to Trash. Then, this note is removed from the Notes folder and saved in the Trash folder.
Note: There is no time limit in the Trash folder and you can restore your notes whenever you like. However, if you want to permanently delete a note, click the note and the 3-dot icon. Then, choose Delete permanently in the dropdown menu.
Delete a Note on Windows or Mac
Unlike deleting notes on the Evernote website, you can select multiple notes and delete them at a time on its desktop app.
Step 1. Download and install the Evernote desktop app.
Step 2. Log in to your Evernote account. Here you may see a prompt to tell you that a free can only log in to the account in one way. If you signed in to the account on its web, you have to log out.
Step 3. Select Notes in the left sidebar and select the note you want to delete. Then, click the 3-dot icon in the upper-right corner and choose Move to Trash to delete a note.
Note: If you want to delete all the notes at a time, click the first note > press Ctrl + A on your keyboard > click on the trash bin icon in the lower bar. Then all the notes will be deleted with one click and sent to the Trash folder
Delete a Note on iPhone, iPad, or Android
Step 1. Open the Evernote app on your mobile device and log in to your account.
Step 2. Choose the Notes tab and open the note you want to delete.
Step 3. Click the 3-dot icon in the upper-right corner and select Move to Trash in the menu. Then, this note is deleted from the Notes folder. This is also how to delete a note in Evernote on iPad and Android.
Note: You can find the Trash folder by clicking your Evernote profile picture and choosing Trash in the dropdown menu.
How to Delete a Notebook on Evernote
Deleting a notebook on Evernote is different from deleting a note. First of all, if you are in an Evernote Team, only the admin can delete the notebook. Besides, you cannot select multiple notebooks to delete even if you use the desktop app. What’s more, if you delete a notebook, the notes will be saved to the Trash as well, but the notebook will be deleted permanently.
Delete a Notebook on Web
Whether you wish to delete a notebook on your personal/professional/free account or your team account, you cannot delete the default notebook which is marked with a star.
In Free, Personal, or Professional Account
Step 1. Go to the Evernote website and log in to your account.
Step 2. Choose Notebooks in the left sidebar and click the 3-dot icon next to the notebook you want to delete.
Step 3. Select Delete notebook in the dropdown menu. Then, confirm to delete the notebook in the prompt.
In Evernote Teams
Step 1. Go to the Admin console and log in to it if you are the admin of your team.
Step 2. Select Notebooks and check the box beside the notebook you want to delete.
Step 3. Tap on Actions and choose Delete notebook.
Delete a Notebook on Windows or Mac
Although you can select multiple notes to delete with one click with the Evernote desktop app, you cannot select multiple notebooks. Therefore, you have to remove the notebook one by one.
Step 1. Open the Evernote desktop app.
Step 2. Select Notebooks in the left sidebar.
Step 3. Click the 3-dot icon next to the notebook you want to delete. Then, choose Delete notebook.
Step 4. Confirm to delete this notebook by clicking Delete in the prompt. Then, this notebook will be removed from your Evernote and notes inside will be moved to Trash.
Delete a Notebook on iPhone, iPad, or Android
Step 1. Go to the Evernote app on your mobile device.
Step 2. Select the Notebooks tab and open the desired notebook.
Step 3. Click the 3-dot icon and choose Delete notebook to delete this notebook and move the notes to the Trash folder.
