Simply, it is a self-build network Cloud based on PHP for private usage. You can move data in OwnCloud to SugarSync, Amazon, Hidrive, Google Drive, MEGA, Dropbox, etc. and use it to backup and sync data on OwnCloud at fixed time point.
OwnCloud allows you to sync folders and share it, and you can access your file when it is offline.
You can add, use or develop multiple plug-ins, such as Media Viewer, PDF Viewer, etc.
